Over the past seven years, ARA has pioneered high performance augmented reality technology for outdoor, on-the-move soldier operations. We call it ARC4. Rather than looking down at a 2D map or chest-worn computer, the soldier sees iconic information (e.g., navigation waypoints, blue forces, aircraft, points of interest) overlaid on their real-world view. The soldier is able to perform his or her mission with high awareness of their surroundings, with enhanced safety and speed, and in close coordination with team members. ARC4 integrates with daytime see-through displays and night-vision goggles. ARA is currently extending ARC4 into commercial, industrial, and immersive training applications.
