Since the company´s inception it has carried out advanced contract research in the fields of Mixed reality and Augmented reality on behalf of the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) and BAE Systems. XMReality has also participated in medical research programmes in collaboration with, among others, the Centre for Medical Image Science and Visualization, CMIV, at Linköping University.

XMReality was nominated in 2012 for the Scandinavian First Maintenance Service Award; a prize awarded by the trade association the Swedish Centre for Maintenance Management.
