AR/VR solutions architect, he designs and develops applications based on AR, VR and Realtime 3d. As a consultant he collaborated with scientific institutions (University of Genoa, Festival della Scienza di Genova). After graduating in Oceanography from the University of Genoa he founded UBICA srl, an academic SpinOff aimed at the creation of Realtime 3d data visualization tools (mainly 3d interactive marine cartography). He developed VR/AR applications for Public Institutions as Biblioteca Universitaria di Genova (Ministero dei Beni Culturali), University of Genoa, CANTON DE GENEVE, etc. and for private clients like Bristol-Myers Squibb(Medical), Gold(StreetWear), SIME(Engineering), Darts, ETT. As part of the Alcotra-Innovation Project he participated to joint experimentations exploring the applications of AR/VR in museum environments. He is the winner of the 2013 Auggie Award, in the Best Augmented Reality Marketing Campaign category, for the Gold(StreetWear) brand’s AR campaign. He won the 2013 edition of the Startup Weekend in Genoa with the LYSO project. He has been invited to present his AR works during the “3D-Stadtmodelle” Workshop hosted by the DGfK (German Cartographic Society e.V.) and during the “Mobile Geospatial Augmented Reality” (GAR) Workshop hosted by the Institut Cartogràfic de Catalunya, in Barcelona during the 2013 MWC. Jason Jerald, PhD, is Co-Founder and Principal Consultant at NextGen Interactions and has been creating computer graphics and next-generation 3D computer interfaces for over 20 years. His work with virtual/augmented reality has been featured on ABC’s Shark Tank, on the Discovery Channel, in the New York Times, and on the cover of the MIT Press Journal Presence: Teleoperators and Telepresence.   Jason has worked with various organizations including NASA, General Motors, Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Valve, Oculus VR, Virtuix, and Sixense Entertainment.   Jason has held various technical and leadership positions including building and leading a team of ~300 individuals. He has served on the ACM SIGGRAPH, IEEE Virtual Reality, & IEEE 3D User Interface Committees.   Jason received a Bachelors in Computer Science with an emphasis in Computer Graphics and minors in Mathematics and Electrical Engineering from Washington State University. He received a PhD in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a focus on virtual reality and visual-temporal perception. Dana Coester

Dana Coester is a Glass Explorer, Creative Director for the WVU School of Journalism Media Innovation Lab and Assistant Professor at the PI Reed School of Journalism at West Virginia University. Coester is currently developing applications for Glass and engaged in research about the radical potential for wearables and augmented reality to transform journalism practice. In addition to developing for Glass, Coester’s current experiments are in new economic models for media in white space, and new narrative forms at the intersection of digital storytelling and neuroscience. These experiments span community media, art installation, poetry and experimental film. Coester is a former art director and contributor with Time Inc. and earned her master’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1993. Matt Ramirez is the lead Augmented Reality Developer/Project Manager at Mimas based at the University of Manchester. He was previously involved in the technical development and support of the JISC funded SCARLET+ Augmented Reality project, this follows on from the award winning SCARLET project. He has over 15 years experience in web and e-learning projects (UK and international) for a variety of disciplines including medicine, IT, science, special collections and business. These have used multimedia content authoring tools such as Flex, Flash, Blender, Unity to name a few. Matt’s role is also concerned with the research and development of new technologies (e.g. wearables/mobile/multimedia development projects and haptics) with the Manchester Medical, School Business, Pharmacy and Dental School. This aims to improve the student experience by embracing innovative learning methods and providing cutting edge support materials. He is currently involved in a number of Augmented Reality projects with diverse subject areas such as clinical skills, dentistry, statistics, geology and examining how 3D printing can bring extra dimension and value to this medium.
