Omar Tayeb is the CTO and Co-founder of Blippar, one of the world’s leading visual browser and fastest growing augmented reality player. He co-founded Blippar in 2011 and has been successfully driving company’s business globally. Tayeb is credited for developing the technology behind Blippar- the market leading mobile platform and game-changing content medium for smart devices. As the CTO and co-founder Omar has been instrumental in attracting over 9 million users to the platform with over 50 million application usage across 1000 + brands and media partnerships. Omar is leading a team of 70 engineers and developers, who are working on the current platform as well as new technologies in particular wearables. Omar is also managing Blippar’s R&D team. A developer with over five years’ experience in computer vision technology, a career he began at Imperial College developing the first mobile simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) system. Prior to Blippar, Tayeb worked in the financial services sector and built an algorithmic trading application based on neural networks. He was recognized as Young Innovator of the Year by the Guardian in 2012 and was one of three finalists in the 2012 Spirit of London business entrepreneur category. In 2014 he received the h100 award, which celebrates the 100 most influential and innovative people in Britain.
