Jason Jerald, PhD, is Co-Founder and Principal Consultant at NextGen Interactions and has been creating computer graphics and next-generation 3D computer interfaces for over 20 years. His work with virtual/augmented reality has been featured on ABC’s Shark Tank, on the Discovery Channel, in the New York Times, and on the cover of the MIT Press Journal Presence: Teleoperators and Telepresence.   Jason has worked with various organizations including NASA, General Motors, Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Valve, Oculus VR, Virtuix, and Sixense Entertainment.  

Jason has held various technical and leadership positions including building and leading a team of ~300 individuals. He has served on the ACM SIGGRAPH, IEEE Virtual Reality, & IEEE 3D User Interface Committees.  

Jason received a Bachelors in Computer Science with an emphasis in Computer Graphics and minors in Mathematics and Electrical Engineering from Washington State University. He received a PhD in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a focus on virtual reality and visual-temporal perception. Jason holds over 20 publications and patents in the areas of computer graphics, human-computer interaction, and virtual/augmented reality.

Jason is a global speaker, delivering presentations at conferences and programs throughout the world.

His book “Perceptual and Interaction Design for Virtual Reality” published by Morgan & Claypool will launch August 9th at the SIGGRAPH book store.
