Rudi Schubert is the Director, New Initiatives for the IEEE Standards Association, with leadership responsibilities for the IEEE Industry Connections program, the IEEE Conformity Assessment Program and a number of new technology standards initiatives. Prior to joining the IEEE-SA, he was a Principal Engineer with EnerNex Corporation, and a program manager for the Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP) with a focus on its interoperability and testing initiatives for emerging grid technologies. Rudi has a 20+ year record of leading, developing and implementing industry standards and testing programs associated with the communications and energy industries, assuring expectations for functional performance, compatibility, product robustness and safety are achieved. He is recognized as a technical expert and industry thought leader on conformance and interoperability programs.

Sri (as he is popularly known) is associated with the IEEE India office for the past 3 years with specific focus on standards engagements in India. In this strategic role, Sri drives standards related initiatives & programs in India across technology sectors which include amongst others Smart Grid, Communications, VLSI, to engage Indian engineering community to global IEEE standards development efforts. Apart from India focused programs, Sri is involved in driving some of the key emerging technologies for the IEEE Standards Association globally which include programs in IoT, Smart Cities, AR, eHealth etc. Prior to joining IEEE, Sri was associated with Freescale Semiconductor Inc. (formerly Motorola Inc.) for 18 years, managing a global R&D team focused on technology development in the area of Electronic Design Automation and also led key standards working groups for behavioral modeling of mixed signal systems.
