Sally A. Applin is a Doctoral Candidate at the University of Kent at Canterbury, UK, in the Centre for Social Anthropology and Computing (CSAC). She researches and models the impact of technology on culture. Sally holds a Masters degree from the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU (ITP) and a BA in Conceptual Design from SFSU. Sally has had a 20+ year career in the computer, technology, telecommunications and design industries working as a Senior Consultant, Sr. Researcher, Senior UX Designer, and Ethnographer. Sally is a member of IoT Council, a think tank for the Internet of Things (IoT), a board member of the Edward H. and Rosamond B. Spicer Foundation and a founding member of AnthroPunk, a movement that considers how humans make and remake their world.
